Entry Visa acquisition Guidance
Entry visas into Cameroon are regulated by Decree No.2007-255 of 4 September 2007: to lay down the implementation of law number No. 97/12 of January 1997 to lay down conditions for entry, stay, and exit of aliens in Cameroon.
Entry visas in Cameroon shall be classified into (4) four categories:
- Transit visa
- Tourist visa
- Temporary visa
- Long stay visa
The multiple entry and exit visa may be issued to an alien in transit and its validity may not exceed (5) five days.
The single or multiple entries may be issued to the temporary visitor traveling as a tourist either individually or within the context of an organized or inclusive tour, its validity may not exceed 30 days.The single or multiple entry temporary visas may be issued to the alien whose duration of stay in Cameroon does not exceed (3) three months.
Single or multiple entry visas or long stay visas may be issued to the alien whose planned stay in Cameroon exceeds (3) three months. However, its validity may not exceed (6) months.
Entry visas may not be transferred from one category to another. They may be extended only in an event of force majeure and on the express authorization of the Delegate General for National Security.
Except for the long-stay visa, no visa in Cameroon shall give the entitlement to exercise a profit-making or occupational activity in Cameroon or to study in Cameroon.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR ISSUING ENTRY VISAS TO CAMEROON
GETTING A TRANSIT VISA TO CAMEROON
- Valid passport or any other travel document valid for at least (6) six months
- An air ticket valid right to the final destination or any other proof valid for the continuation of the journey.
- A visit authorization to enter the country of the final destination where applicable.
- Required international vaccination certificates.
GETTING A TOURIST VISA TO CAMEROON
- A passport or any travel document valid for at least six (6) months
- A round trip air ticket or where necessary custom clearance or pass.
- Required international vaccine certificates.
- Proof of purpose of the visit.
- Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of your stay e.g. (Bank statements, payslips, credit cards, or affidavit of support.
- Proof of accommodation e.g. hotel reservations.
GETTING A TEMPORARY VISA TO CAMEROON
- A passport or any travel document valid for at least six (6) months
- A round trip air ticket or where necessary custom clearance or pass.
- Required international vaccine certificates.
- Proof of purpose of the visit.
- Proof of sufficient means of subsistence for the duration of your stay e.g. (Bank statements, payslips, credit cards, or affidavit of support.
- Proof of accommodation e.g. hotel reservations.
GETTING A LONG-STAY VISA TO CAMEROON
- Passport valid for at least six (6) months
- An air ticket or any ticket valid for Cameroon
- Required international vaccination certificates
- Repatriation deposit.
- A contract of employment signed by the minister of labor for aliens willing to carry out a gainful activity in Cameroon.
- An authorization to carry out a liberal profession or promote agricultural, industrial, commercial, artistic, or other activities issued by the competent authorities, where required.
- Proof of material link for the spouse or minor link for the minor children.
- For studies, a certificate of registration or pre-registration is issued by the head of the institution for the student.
- A training decision for trainees.
In conclusion, visas shall be issued by a competent diplomatic mission or consular office, within forty-eight (48) hours, with effect from the date of submission of the application. However, aliens from Cameroon where Cameroon is not represented by a diplomatic mission or consular office may as a special measure, obtain a visa from the frontier police or immigration post of the place of entry. In an event of a refusal of visa, a notice shall be served to the applicant within twenty-four (24) hours of the filling of the application, by the competent service which shall inform the depart of the frontier police.
